Norfolk is an independent city with its own government, police and school system; neighboring Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Portsmouth are separate cities, and we always say which one a story is about.

## How we work

We credit our sources and stick to what they support. We use AI tools to help with some of our work, such as drafting stories from official announcements. Our editors oversee and review our AI-assisted work, and the same standards and corrections policy apply to everything we publish. [Our ethics and standards](/ethics/) explain more.

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Read [our corrections policy](/corrections-policy/) or see [every correction we have made](/corrections/).

## Who we are

NorfolkFeed launched in 2026 and is published by Community Feed Media. It is an independent news site. We are not part of the City of Norfolk or any agency we cover; we report on them for Norfolk residents.
